Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- B.J. Bennett is the nephew of former USC and Cincinatti Bengals running back Brandon Bennett. But the younger Bennett has more going for him than good genetics.
B.J. is a News19 Player of the Week and it's due to the total package that he brings to the table. Not only is he an outstanding student at Hammond School, but he is one of the top skill players in the SCISA ranks.
Bennett played a major role in the Skyhawks capturing a state record six consecutive state championship. Hammond head coach Erik Kimrey says because Bennett still has not hit his ceiling in terms of his physical development, he could see B.J. playing in a Division One program.
Off the field, Kimrey says Bennett's leadership skills are on display in the halls of Hammond, another notch on his resume which will now say News19 Player of the Week.
