Auburn, AL --- Offensive struggles proved to be the difference in Auburn's 53-49 win over USC in SEC women's basketball action Thursday.

USC trailed 28-19 at halftime and the deficit grew to 13 at 42-29 with 10:17 to play. But the Gamecocks rallied to take a 47-46 lead with 5:25 lead. However, Carolina would score just two points the rest of the way, allowing Auburn to pull out the win.

Carolina shot 28.6 percent from the field, but nearly 78 percent from the free throw line.

Markeshia Grant led the offense with nine points. Ashley Bruner finished with eight.
