Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have arrested two suspects they say were carrying a gun at Columbia High School.
Officers say 17-year-old Lamar Watkins and a juvenile were taken into custody Friday and charged with carrying weapons on school property.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says several students told the school resource officer and an administrator that they saw Watkins with a gun.
A deputy went to remove Watkins from class, and according to officers, Watkins passed the gun to another juvenile student who hid the gun. Deputies say the gun was recovered in the juveniles' waistband.
Watkins and the juvenile were taken to the Richland County Detention Center.
