Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The University of South Carolina has hired Chris Rogers as its associate athletics director of compliance.
Rogers has been serving as the assistant athletics director for compliance at Ohio State University, where he's been since 2007. In that job, he was the primary compliance contact for football, among other sports.
"We are extremely pleased to have Chris Rogers join the Athletics Department," said Athletics Director Eric Hyman said in a statement. "He has extensive experience with high profile, highly competitive programs. He certainly understands the NCAA's expectations for a top-level compliance operation. Having earned both a law and masters degree, he has the skills and acumen to ensure a successful compliance operation on behalf of our University and our Athletics Department."
Rogers also was the compliance director at the University of Utah.
He fills the position left vacant when Jennifer Stiles was demoted as part of a series of self-imposed penalties the school outlined in response to an NCAA notice of allegations of violations. Judy Van Horn had been serving as the interim director. The NCAA's Committee on Infractions will consider USC's reponse at their meeting later this month.
