Markeshia Grant (Randy Sartin-US PRESSWIRE)
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - USC guard Markeshia Grant has been named the National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
She had already been named SEC Player of the Week.
Last week's 27 point outburst against Tennessee helped the Lady Gamecocks score their first win over the Lady Vols in 32 years, and the first ever win in Knoxville.
Grant had seven three-pointers in that game, a career high in that statistic and led her to a college career high in points.
Over the last four games, Grant has shot 44.4 percent from 3-point range.
Last week's win was the Gamecocks' fourth straight in league play, the longest since 2005-06.
The Lady Gamecocks play next Thursday at Arkansas.
