Gaston, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies are searching for two men they say shot and killed a 64-year-old man.
Officers say around 10:37 p.m. Wednesday, deputies got a call of a fatal shooting at a home on Victor Road near Gaston. When they arrived, they found Leon W. Justice lying on the flood near the front door, and it appeared he was unconscious.
Justice was taken to the hospital where later he was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, Justice was renting a room at the home. The owner of the residence told deputies she was in the kitchen when she heard someone knock on the front door.
She said Justice opened the door, and shortly afterward, the two men opened fire on Justice. The woman told investigators she saw two men who had masks over their faces leave the home.
The woman's son, who lives next door, said he saw one of the suspects run across his mother's front yard and get in a pickup truck. It's believed it could have been a dark in color Chevrolet.
Detectives are investigating whether Justice knew the persons involved in his death.
